Staff Nurse

Wehave challenging, demanding yet highly rewarding opportunities to join ourmultidisciplinary team. we are seeking motivated individuals with a passion forolder adult mental health and a commitment to support continually improvingquality.

New Haven consists of two wards woodland forfunctional mental health needs and meadow for dementia care.

The team at Newhaven are friendly, supportive,and exceptionally caring, putting patient care at the heart of the work we doto improve health care outcomes and service delivery.

We can offer up to 37.5 hours a week. Ourworking patterns are 3-4 long days/ night (07:30-20:00/19:30-08:00) across afour week period including weekends and bank holidays.


Main duties of the job

* Wewelcome newly qualified nurses and experienced nurses
* Theability to communicate effectively with others at all levels
* An enthusiastic, motivated, andinnovative thinker to become part of the Older Adult inpatient service
* The ability to work autonomouslymanaging your own named patients, developing a plan of care.
* The ability to problem solves, delegate,lead, co-ordinate and manage time effectively
* Excellent communication andinter-personal skills along with a flexible, responsive approach.
* Closeworking with all members of the Multi-disciplinary Team
* Undertakingmental health needs assessments
* Assessmentand Management of risk
* Liaisingwith other services such as, community mental health team, Hospital at HomeTeam, Mental Health Liaison Team, and the Acute Trust
* Effectiveassessment through SBAR and care planning
* Delegationand shift management
* Supervisingof junior staff, including students

Job responsibilities

* Actas a role model to colleagues, seeking high standards of professionalism.

* Assessthe care needs of individual patients and then develop, implement, and evaluateprogrammes of care for them.
* Leada team of nurses in the provision of care to a named group of patients.

* Provideleadership to the team of nurses in their charge, supervising, monitoring,supporting, and educating them in good professional and clinical practices.
* Assistin maintaining high standards of patient care, ensuring patients individualityand privacy are always maintained.
* Maintainconfidentiality.
* Effective communication and handover of care.
* Maintainan up-to-date knowledge of all Trust policies and procedures.
* Adhereto the NMC code of Professional Conduct.

Person Specification


Skills & Abilities

* Ability to challenge poor behaviour
* A positive attitude and able to act on feedback
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats
* Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care
* Able to work as an effective team member
* Able to supervise and teach junior staff
* Uses own initiative and is able to take decisions
* Able to maintain clear and legible documentation


Knowledge

* NMC Code of Conduct
* Knowledge of person centred care
* Knowledge of the ageing
* process and related mental and physical health problems
* Knowledge of Clinical Governance and a commitment to clinical supervision
* Knowledge of the individuals responsibility towards health and safety


Experience

* Where the post holder is on or above the 2nd KSF gateway they will support the Clinical Coordinator role, as described as exceptional circumstances in the job description
* Promoting peoples equality, diversity and rights
* Ensuring actions contribute to quality


Qualifications

* RN Mental Health, RN (Adult) or RNLD
* Registered on the NMC register
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
