Controls Engineer Location: Manchester (Hybrid / Site-Based) Salary: £45,000 – £65,000 (depending on experience) Overview We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Manchester. This role involves the design, development, and commissioning of control systems across a range of industrial automation projects. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, innovative solutions to clients across multiple sectors. Key Responsibilities Design and develop control systems using Siemens TIA Portal PLC and HMI programming, testing, and debugging Produce electrical schematics using EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical Support system integration, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and site commissioning Work collaboratively with mechanical, electrical, and software teams Troubleshoot and resolve issues during installation and operation Ensure compliance with relevant standards and safety regulations Provide technical documentation and support to clients Required Skills & Experience Proven experience in a Controls Engineer or similar role Strong proficiency with Siemens TIA Portal (PLC/HMI programming) Experience with electrical design software (EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical) Good understanding of industrial automation systems and processes Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Desirable Skills Experience with machine vision systems Knowledge of robotics (programming, integration, or commissioning) Experience working in manufacturing, logistics, or process industries Familiarity with industrial networks and communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, Ethernet/IP) Benefits Competitive salary up to £65,000 Opportunities for career progression and professional development Exposure to varied and technically challenging projects Flexible working arrangements (where applicable) Company pension and additional benefits package
