Welder – Yeovil
Salary: £15.50 per hour (potentially £16 for the right experience) Interaction Recruitment – Recruiting on behalf of a local client
Overall Purpose of the Role
Interaction Recruitment are seeking an experienced TIG Welder to join a well‑established manufacturing business in Yeovil. This is a key role within the cabinet assembly team, working across a range of stainless steel and aluminium assemblies. You will be responsible for cutting, joining and fabricating metal components using TIG, MIG and spot‑welding techniques, ensuring high‑quality output and supporting wider production activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Read and interpret technical drawings and measurements to build assemblies.
2. Determine correct welding methods and equipment based on job requirements.
3. Set up components for welding, including cutting materials using powered saws.
4. Align and weld components using manual or semi‑automatic welding equipment.
5. Input accurate completion data into the company ERP system.
6. Maintain welding equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
7. Handle materials safely, including manual pallet truck operation (training provided).
8. Keep the welding plant and surrounding area clean and tidy.
9. Follow production schedules and Work to Lists.
10. Support wider production activities when required.
11. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
Qualifications & Experience
12. TIG welding experience with Stainless Steel or Aluminium – essential.
13. MIG welding experience.
14. Experience working with Stainless Steel, Mild Steel and Aluminium (advantageous).
15. Fabrication experience, including reading drawings and assembling/welding components.
16. Ability to select correct materials and welding consumables.
17. Proficient in English.
18. Professional welding certification beneficial but not essential.
Hours, Pay & Benefits
19. Rate: £15.50 per hour (potential stretch to £16 depending on experience).
20. Hours:
Mon–Thu: 7.30am – 4.30pm
Fri: 7.30am – 1.30pm
21. Contract: Full‑time, permanent.
22. Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week (flexibility required during busy periods).
23. Overtime:
Weekdays after 40 hours: x1.25
Weekends: x1.5
24. Holiday: 20 days + Bank Holidays.
25. Additional: Free parking, pension scheme, full training and PPE provided.
