JOB PURPOSE
Comfort, Persil, Omo, Cif, Domestos are amongst the world’s most recognizable Home Care brands developed by Unilever’s Global Development Centre in the Northwest. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the HC R&D team that collaborates closely with Marketing, Procurement, and Supply Chain to deliver innovative product solutions globally.
Within this team, there is a permanent position for a colloid scientist to join the Fabric Enhancers team at our R&D Centre in Port Sunlight.
We seek an inquisitive and passionate colloid formulation scientist to develop innovative products that delight consumers. You will help develop new technologies and formulations for Fabric Enhancers, focusing on superior and sustainable products for our core brand, Comfort. Responsibilities also include developing new formulation capabilities such as automated performance assessment and digital modelling approaches.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Translate consumer and business needs into ideas for new technologies and products.
2. Collaborate with partners (suppliers, academics) to identify, assess, and develop new technologies.
3. Lead the development and formulation of new products, including performance and stability assessments across formats.
4. Develop digital and automated capabilities for Fabric Enhancers and support the digitisation of product development processes.
ALL ABOUT YOU
We value the right attitude, mindset, and competencies. Experience in Home or Personal Care formulation roles is a plus but not essential.
* Degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related field.
* Strong laboratory formulation expertise, preferably in polymers, surfactants in solution, colloid science, rheology, and DoE.
* A creative, logical, and analytical mindset with the ability to drive work programs forward.
* Experience applying digital and automation approaches.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships, work independently, and collaborate in cross-functional teams.
* Good planning, organisational, and communication skills.
