Job Description

We don’t just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it, and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities, and our environment. As an organisation we strive to reflect the communities we serve and continue to develop diversity throughout our workforce. We welcome applications from all backgrounds regardless of race, sexual orientation, or religion.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an Asset Performance team in the UK’s biggest environmental organisation. We manage flood risk assets across Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire to ensure they protect our communities from the risk of flooding. As professional Asset Managers, you will be part of a team inspecting, maintaining and refurbishing flood risk assets which include kilometres of riverbanks, sluice gates and flood storage reservoirs among other things.

Your enthusiasm and positive attitude will help deliver our priorities. You will help manage our asset data to ensure it is of the best quality and can be relied on to inform our future investment programme. This may include site work to understand our asset base and to collect, analyse and interpret information to ensure we manage it well. You will be trained to undertake inspections of our assets.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role (Flood Incident Duty Officer) and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training, and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and refurbish flood risk assets including riverbanks, sluice gates and flood storage reservoirs.
• Manage asset data using the Asset Information Management System, Geographic Information System (GIS) and other IT systems.
• Provide incident response as a Flood Incident Duty Officer, available for on‑call duties where needed.
• Attend site visits and contribute to the life‑cycle management of flood and coastal erosion risk assets.

Qualifications

• Background in civil engineering, asset management or a related science, preferably with a formal qualification or demonstrable technical knowledge and work experience.
• Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills, with proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to liaise with customers, colleagues and the public.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, making decisions based on data and evidence.
• Full UK driving licence; availability for hybrid or office‑based work with site visits.
