A researcher with a strong track record of relevant research in modelling and control of legged robotic systems, such as humanoids, quadrupeds, and hexapods, and an outstanding mathematical background is required to work on legged robots for challenging environments.
This position is to work in RAICo1, a joint initiative developed by Sellafield Ltd and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), in collaboration with the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), the University of Manchester, and AWE. Sited in Whitehaven, West Cumbria, RAICo1 is the first of a network of robotics and artificial intelligence hubs across the UK. Sellafield Ltd., supply chain partners, and academia use the facility to develop the technology needed to decommission Sellafield and other sites like it. Offering the ability to test technologies in environments that mirror those on the Sellafield site, such as gloveboxes, water tanks, and silos, the research lab removes some of the challenges associated with working on the nuclear site. The post holder will work in Dr. Bruno Adorno’s group.
