Overview
Electrical, Control & Instrument (EC&I) Team Leader – Energy Recovery Facility, Leicestershire. ENCYCLIS Newhurst ERF is located adjacent to the M1 at Shepshed, Leicestershire.
We generate sustainable electricity from non-recyclable waste and recover metals; the facility operates with advanced equipment and a strong safety focus. The EC&I Team Leader reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for the health and safety of all site staff, contractors and visitors, and for coordinating maintenance and diagnostics on EC&I systems to keep the plant operational and compliant.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for the execution of all planned, preventative and reactive maintenance for EC&I, HV/LV electrical assets and systems within the ERF boundary.
* Manage day-to-day and strategic maintenance, lead a team of EC&I Maintenance Technicians, contractors and agency workers; supervise according to company policies, procedures and legislation.
* Support recruitment and training requirements; carry out routine performance appraisals for direct reports.
* Coordinate and supervise all plant maintenance activities (including contract work and service agreements); control work of employees and contractors to ensure tasks are performed per work scopes and specifications with safe systems of work.
* Be fully conversant with maintenance processes and techniques; plan, coordinate and execute planned outages.
* Promote and support the delivery of Encyclis Safety Rules and Safe Systems of Work; work in accordance with ACOP, SMI and LMI to ensure safe working practices.
* Report Health, Safety and Environmental unsafe conditions, accidents or incidents.
* Develop and implement short and long-term maintenance strategies in line with industry best practices and technical procedures.
* Responsible for CEMS maintenance and calibrations to ensure environmental compliance per EA / EN standards.
* Interrogate and diagnose faults on Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Remote I/O (RIO) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
* Work with the Maintenance Planner to manage the CMMS; ensure work is prioritized to avoid overdue tasks.
* Support EC&I spares inventory and maintenance workshop management.
* Lead EC&I improvement processes, manage corrective actions, defect notifications and rectification; conduct effective Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major defects.
* Review corrective, preventative and proactive maintenance programs to support plant integrity; analyze work orders, technical proposals and costs to assist in future CAPEX and projects.
* Develop and maintain up-to-date Method Statements and Risk Assessments for the EC&I Department.
* Provide cover for the Maintenance Manager as required.
Qualifications and Experience
* Education: Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Electrical, Controls or Instrumentation engineering, with formal technical or apprenticeship training. Other relevant qualifications with energy recovery or large process plant experience will be considered.
* Experience: Mechanical background in ERF, plant or process maintenance with outage/major shutdown experience; technical knowledge of pressure parts, gas paths, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pressure systems and vessels and rotating plant; ideally at least five years of experience including supervisory roles.
* Skills: High IT literacy; ability to read and interpret general and technical procedures; understand P&IDs, schematics, drawings; write reports and present technical information to site managers and teams; basic math skills for unit conversions and calculations.
