Design Engineer - Wastewater Manchester (Hybrid)£350 £400 per day (Contract)
A leading UK-based engineering and infrastructure consultancy is currently seeking an experienced Water Design Engineer with a strong background in wastewater and utility projects to support a growing pipeline of work across the North West.This is a hybrid role based out of Manchester, working on critical wastewater treatment and network improvement schemes within a high-performing technical delivery team.You will play a key role in the design and coordination of wastewater assets, supporting projects from early design through to construction and handover.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver detailed design solutions across wastewater and clean water infrastructure projects
* Produce and review technical drawings, design calculations, and specifications
* Support project delivery through the full lifecycle including concept, tender, and construction stages
* Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers
* Assist with design risk management in line with CDM regulations and industry standards
* Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and client stakeholders to ensure design compliance
* Contribute to programme, cost, and technical delivery on utility frameworks
Requirements
* Proven experience working as a Water or Wastewater Design Engineer
* Strong background in the UK utilities sector (Severn Trent, United Utilities, Anglian Water etc. beneficial)
* Experience delivering designs for wastewater treatment works, pumping stations, pipelines or drainage schemes
* Strong understanding of relevant standards, safety, and environmental compliance
* Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills within project teams
