Role Overview
Join Ipswich Borough Council as a Town Planner on the Local Plan making journey. You will shape a new people‑centred Town Centre Strategy, prepare evidence‑based studies, monitor progress and engage stakeholders as we move into the next Ipswich Local Plan due in 2026.
Key Responsibilities
* Shape a new people‑centred Town Centre Strategy.
* Prepare evidence‑based studies and monitoring reports.
* Engage with stakeholders and support other officers.
* Write guidance to expand planning policy.
* Work on allocations and regeneration projects with developers and site owners.
* Contribute to master‑planning of larger sites.
Qualifications
* Relevant degree, postgraduate diploma or NVQ Level 6 in planning or a related field.
* Previous Local Plan making experience is preferred.
* Experience or strong interest in town‑centre policy, regeneration and place‑based planning.
* Strong project‑management, workload and communication skills.
* Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders.
