6 Month Secondment Opportunities

We are delighted to offer 6 month two fixed term opportunities for innovative, ambitious and dedicated pharmacists to join the Medicine pharmacy service in NHS Fife. Following a successful bid, funding has been made available to optimise the service we provide to Neurology and Ophthalmology and contribute to the reduction in patient waiting times. You will assist in the management and review of patients, ideally working as an independent prescriber with a defined patient case-load in the outpatient setting, to maximise the pharmaceutical input into patient care.
You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, appropriate and clinically effective use of medicines. This would include communicating highly complex information relating to medicines with clinicians, nurses, non-medical prescribers, carers and patients, as well as implementation and monitoring of clinical pathways for treatments, including review of treatment in line with national guidance. You will contribute to all aspects of clinical governance, education and training, medicine efficiencies, clinical risk and audit. There may also be the opportunity for additional hours within the medical specialties pharmacy team for those that are interested.
You must be dynamic, enthusiastic, compassionate and have a proven track record of service development to support our transformational improvement journey. You should also be self motivated and able to work independently or as part of the pharmacy team and wider multidisciplinary team. Our successful candidates will be excellent communicators who have the ability to build good relationships with colleagues and other healthcare professionals. You should have experience of working in a clinical environment and managing staff. Non medical prescribing qualification is desirable.
The NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate has undergone an ambitious programme of transformation and integration. It serves a population of approximately 380,000 people and is provided by an integrated team of around 300 Pharmacy staff, including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Support Workers, Nurses, and Administrators. The team works across Hospital Sites, General Practices, Mental Health services, and a range of specialist teams. Partnership working is at the core of our values, and we work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including our Community Pharmacy colleagues, to deliver the highest quality care for everyone in Fife.
