Practice Development Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner - Theatres
We are seeking a dynamic, motivated individual to join the Theatre educational team.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering Trust objectives and ensuring that care within this specialty reflects the Trust's Vision and Values.
The ideal candidate must have the ability to provide positive mentoring, coaching, and development to clinical teams across all theatre specialties, acting as a role model in all they do.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be an experienced registered Nurse/ODP with a qualification in mentorship or training, a positive teaching style, an interest in education, and a good understanding of the Peri-operative Departments.
This role will specifically support ODP students, newly qualified staff, existing scrub practitioners, and theatre support workers, developing and teaching best practices around the surgical scrub role.

Job responsibilities
Professional Leadership: Promote collaboration and effective communication within the multidisciplinary team. Support professional and clinical standards.
Organisational & Management Responsibilities: Support development needs in conjunction with senior practice leads. Manage time effectively between clinical and administrative duties. Develop and deliver training for Scrub Practitioners and Theatre Support Workers. Promote a culture of openness and professionalism. Support the development of preceptorship and education programmes, and facilitate role development for Support Workers. Provide advice on clinical audit and quality improvement, support mandatory training, and guide practice to improve patient outcomes. Address clinical competence issues with appropriate support and development plans.
Person Specification
Education, Training, and Qualifications
* NMC/HCPC Registration
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
* Leadership qualification/course or working towards
Knowledge and Experience
* Post-registration experience in theatres
* At least 2 years post-qualification experience in perioperative care
* Experience in mentoring and assessing in clinical practice
* Experience in audit and practice development
* Ability to deliver training with diverse styles and resources
* Effective teamworking and autonomous working skills
* Experience at Band 6 level in theatres
* Involvement in planning/developing nurse/ODP education packages
* Experience in implementing service development/change
