Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to undertake the role of Public Protection Advisor within NHS Ayrshire and Arran Public Protection Team. The Public Protection Health Service consists of 3 key areas which are Child Protection, Adult Support and Protection and Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC). This post also includes close links to the Care Homes Professional Support Team (CHPST).

This is an excellent time to join the Public Protection Health Team. With a focus on supporting the workforce to fulfil their obligations the Public Protection Health Team will drive forward service development and continuous improvement.

The Public Protection Advisor role aims to ensure all staff across services in NHS Ayrshire and Arran recognise their role and responsibility in protecting vulnerable children and adults at risk harm and respond appropriately.

The role will involve developing, implementing and evaluation on going programmes and training for all NHS Ayrshire and Arran staff including care home staff.

Evidence of pertinent continued professional development, previous involvement in multi-agency working and experience of safeguarding processes in practice would also be advantageous.

You will be operationally managed and receive professional and clinical leadership from the Public Protection Lead with the support of others in the Public Protection team. Protection can be an emotionally demanding area to work in and staff wellbeing is considered a priority. This is demonstrated through regular supervision, peer support and appraisal. There is also a commitment to support professional development.

Hours and Shift Pattern:

37 hours M- F 9-5

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is a condition of this post and the successful applicant(s) will require to join the scheme prior to appointment.
