Role title: Tax and Trust Assistant Reports to: Tax & Trust Specialist Location: Essex Hours of work: 35 hours per week SMCR Function: This is a Conduct role Purpose of role This role will support the in-house Tax and Trust Team. The team supports clients, advisers, paraplanners and the wider business with technical tax and trust information. A significant part of the role will involve providing guidance to advisers and clients on a varied range of tax and trust enquiries and reviewing the technical content for client advice reports, a significant proportion of which relate to inheritance tax planning. A core part of the role will involve reviewing trust reports, trust deeds and trust AML documents to support the advice provided to Ascot Lloyd’s trust clients and to assist the business with meeting regulatory responsibilities. The role would suit a paraplanner with experience in inheritance tax planning trusts and who is looking to utilise and enhance their knowledge in these areas. Training and support will be provided. Key Responsibilities Review Trust client advice reports Review and provide commentary on the operation of trust deeds Review Trust AML documentation and provide feedback Review inheritance tax planning client advice reports Provide support on ad-hoc projects undertaken by the Tax Team. Safeguard client data in accordance with regulatory requirements. Report any compliance issues or suspected compliance breaches to the Team Manager for reporting to the Compliance Team. Technical knowledge of inheritance tax planning products, in particular trusts. Have familiarity with non-provider trusts and the tax aspects of all trusts Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Highly organised and methodical and able to undertake work with accuracy to meet tight deadlines. Team player. Confident user of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Desire to proactively and continually expand knowledge in the areas of tax and financial products to enhance service delivery for the business and for the client’s benefit.
