About the Department

The Immigration Advisory Service is a specialist team within Student and Academic Services, responsible for providing advice to prospective and future students, managing the issuing of CAS for students, enabling recruitment of colleagues who require sponsorship to study or work at Goldsmiths and overseeing our compliance activity.

About the Role

You will deliver high-quality immigration advice and manage a high volume of complex casework for international students, ensuring all guidance and decisions are accurate and in accordance with UKVI policy. The role involves assessing eligibility, reviewing supporting documentation, including financial evidence, and overseeing CAS processing, while contributing to accurate record-keeping, reporting, and monitoring across the Advice and Compliance functions. The role also includes line management responsibilities, supporting and guiding colleagues to ensure consistent, accurate, and compliant delivery of the service. While primarily student-focused, the role may also involve providing immigration advice to staff where required.

About the Candidate

You will have substantial experience delivering immigration advice in a higher education or similar environment, with a strong track record of managing a high volume of complex casework, including CAS assessments, eligibility checks, and financial evidence reviews. You will be confident ensuring that advice and decisions are accurate, legally compliant, and consistent across teams. You will also bring experience of supporting or supervising colleagues, providing guidance and oversight to maintain quality, compliance, and consistency in service delivery. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and excellent organisational abilities are essential, along with a thorough understanding of UKVI sponsorship requirements.

Benefits

We have generous benefits – an agile working environment, 22/28 days’ annual leave plus 6 paid closure days (4 at Christmas and 2 at Easter) plus all Bank Holidays, great transport links, a defined benefit pension scheme, support for professional development and a broad range of wellbeing initiatives such as staff choir, running club, staff networks and creative writing classes.
