Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team providing high intensity interventions in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), working with adults aged 16+ who have a range of anxiety and depression related problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective. The post holder will work within the service to provide high intensity CBT interventions to patients at Step 3 of the Talking Therapies service. We operate hybrid working to include remote/office‑based hours to include face‑to‑face patient contact, as well as telephone and video conferencing. The contracted hours are 37.5 over 5 days.

This is a fixed‑term post to cover long‑term absence until 1 September 2026, with the right to end the contract sooner with appropriate notice.

Responsibilities

* Work autonomously and collaboratively within a hybrid model, taking a blended approach to home and office‑based working.
* Assess and provide psychological interventions, support individuals to work toward recovery and manage a caseload of adults with depression and/or anxiety.
* Maintain clear and accurate clinical records and reflect on practice via regular supervision.
* Undertake CPD to further skills and knowledge, and facilitate groups where appropriate.
* Possibly take on a Champion role and contribute to service promotion and development.
* Maintain an effective interface with the team and with relevant allied agencies within the care pathway.
Qualifications
* Qualification from the High Intensity IAPT CBT Course for adults (Post‑Graduate Diploma) or equivalent (e.g., postgraduate diploma in CBT, MSc in CBT).
* Talking Therapies qualification in High Intensity CBT supervision.
* Maintain full accreditation with the appropriate body.
* Good record of continuing professional development and willingness to continue this.
Experience
* Experience of working in a Talking Therapies service.
* Experience of providing supervision to CBT therapists in a Talking Therapies service.
* Experience as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstration of key competences outlined in the Roth & Pilling competency framework.
* Experience of successfully treating a range of presenting problems with high‑intensity therapy in line with NICE guidance.
* Experience of working in a service where agreed targets are in place, demonstrating clinical outcomes.
* Experience of using disorder‑specific measures to inform clinical practice.
* Experience of delivering treatment using disorder‑specific models.
* Experience of accurate and detailed assessment and management of risk, including training in risk assessment within scope of practice.
Desirable
* Qualification in more than one Talking Therapies approved therapy.
* Qualification in other therapeutic approaches such as EMDR.
* Further postgraduate supervisor training and qualification.
* Further accreditation from professional bodies (e.g., Supervisor Accreditation).
* Experience of teaching and liaising with other professional groups.
* Experience of delivering more than one high‑intensity treatment and providing supervision for a second high‑intensity treatment.
* Experience of service promotion.
* Experience of delivering high‑intensity therapy treatment groups.
* Experience of working with diverse communities and within a multicultural setting.
Knowledge
* Comprehensive understanding of anxiety and depression and how they may present in primary care.
* Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems.
* Understanding of the need to use evidence‑based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
Skills & Abilities
* Computer literate.
* Able to write clear reports and letters to referrers and patients.
* Advanced communication skills.
* Effective communication (oral and written) of complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, families, carers and professional colleagues inside and outside the NHS.
