Job title: Assistant Team Manager – Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLs)& Court of Protection (COP) Grade 8, £52,13-£56,730 Location: Any suitable location within the City of Wolverhampton Permanent/ 37 Hours per week The award-winning City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Team Manager to join our dynamic and hardworking DoLs and COP teams which are part of our Ageing Well service. The City of Wolverhampton act as Supervisory Body for DoLs occurring in care homes and hospitals. Alongside this the COP Team are responsible for acting in a role of deputies for some of our vulnerable adults, arranging funerals and protection of property. Both teams have and continue to have fantastic performance on a regional and national basis. Some of your key objectives and responsibilities in your role will be: Directly line manage a dedicated team of Best Interest Assessors (BIA’s), ad hoc independent BIA’s and Court of Protection Officers. Act on behalf of Wolverhampton Supervisory Body to manage and respond to DoLs requests as per our duties under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (2009) Support BIAs to develop their practice and facilitate forums. Give expert advice on MCA/DoLs. Work with key stakeholders to resolve and disputes around DoLs and promote ‘good’ practice on a regional basis. Ensure citizens are waiting well for DoLs assessments Ensure the City of Wolverhampton undertake its duties about Public Health Funerals under the Public Health Act (control of disease) (1984)and management of finances for people deemed to lack capacity to do so under the Mental Capacity Act (2025) The successful candidate will be a registered social worker with Social Work England and have undertaken Best Interest Assessor training and have significant experience of working with adults in complex situations. It is essential that you have specialist experience and knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act (2005) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards ( 2009) and how to apply both pieces of legislation.
