About the Role
We are seeking an Electronics Design Engineer for a full‑time, on‑site position located in Market Harborough.
We are a small, fast‑growing engineering team developing advanced imaging technology, and we’re looking for an Electronics Engineer to take a leading role in our hardware development.
This is a hands‑on role with significant ownership. You will be responsible for designing and delivering complex embedded electronic systems, working closely with software and mechanical engineers to bring products from concept through to production.
Given the size of the team, this role requires someone who is comfortable working across disciplines, making pragmatic decisions, and driving work forward independently.
Key Responsibilities
* Own the end‑to‑end development of electronic systems, from concept and architecture through to production and deployment
* Design and develop embedded hardware for Linux‑based systems
* Define system architectures and select appropriate components and technologies
* Integrate processing platforms, peripherals, sensors, and communication interfaces into cohesive systems
* Work closely with software to support board bring‑up, debugging, and system optimisation
* Develop prototypes, perform validation testing, and support iterative design improvements
* Ensure designs are robust, manufacturable, and compliant with relevant standards
* Support transition from prototype to low and medium volume production
* Contribute to technical direction and engineering best practices within the team
Skills & Experience
* Strong experience designing embedded hardware, ideally for Linux‑based systems
* Proven ability to take products through the full development lifecycle
* Solid understanding of both digital and analogue design
* Experience integrating processors, sensors, communication interfaces, and power systems
* Comfortable working close to software, including hardware/software integration and debugging
* Experience with high‑speed or complex interfaces (e.g. video, storage, or communications)
* Knowledge of power supply design and system‑level power management
* Experience with regulatory compliance (e.g. CE marking)
* Practical, hands‑on approach with strong problem‑solving skills
* 5 years experience in electronics or embedded systems engineering
* Experience with embedded Linux platforms (e.g. ARM‑based modules such as Compute Module‑class systems)
* Familiarity with programmable logic or FPGA‑based systems
* Experience with imaging, camera systems, or high‑throughput data pipelines
* Exposure to wireless communication or GNSS technologies
* Experience working in small teams or startup environments
