What's involved with this role: Procurement Officer Job Ref: Bournemouth & Poole 5284612 Pay Rate: £17.46 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours This opening assignment is for 6 months Hybrid – 1 day per month in office Summary of what the candidate must have to apply : Strong IT and analytical skills. Experience working with established work processes and procedures, including legal and regulatory compliance, delivering within tight timeframes. Good communication skills and confidence dealing with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to manage own workload and make sound decisions. Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, unless alternative transport is viable. The role: To support the Strategic Procurement Team in delivering compliant procurements that follow all rules, safeguard the Council’s financial and legal position, and maximise value for money. The post contributes directly to ensuring that procurement activity is efficient, transparent and consistent with legislation and Council policy. Key accountabilities: Support delivery of procurements that comply with legislation, Financial Regulations and Standing Orders. Provide advice and assistance to officers on procurement requirements, including legislative obligations. Offer guidance on procurement processes, policies and good practice. Assist with tendering and contract management, including drafting tender documents, evaluation and award. Contribute to developing, implementing and maintaining contract registers. Identify opportunities for savings and efficiencies, advising on practical cost reduction solutions. Requirements/key criteria: Proven experience working within structured procedures and regulatory frameworks, including understanding non-compliance risks. Strong analytical skills with confident IT capability. Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with colleagues at every organisational level. Capable of prioritising workload and making timely decisions aligned with project timelines. Full UK driving licence and access to suitable transport where required.
