I'm recruiting for an experienced and dynamic Offshore and FlexTech Manager to lead the commercial development of innovative renewable and flexible technology projects. This portfolio will include offshore wind, energy storage, low-carbon inertia solutions, hydrogen/e-fuels, and other emerging technologies that meet future system and customer needs.
This leadership role will focus on guiding projects through the commercial development phase, fostering partnerships, driving early-stage development, securing routes to market, and progressing projects to financial close. The successful candidate will shape development strategies, oversee contract negotiations, manage joint venture activities, ensure governance and reporting requirements are met, and contribute to the delivery of organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the commercial development of offshore and flexible technology projects, ensuring robust delivery programmes and alignment with business strategy.
* Monitor and control project performance across time, cost, quality, scope, and risk.
* Oversee participation in market auctions/tenders, ensuring comprehensive bid preparation and governance compliance.
* Align technology designs with future system needs and customer requirements.
* Negotiate and finalise contracts, ensuring optimal outcomes and timely execution.
* Track development and capital expenditure against budgets, ensuring efficient resource use and proactive variance management.
* Ensure alignment between delivery schedules, resource needs, and procurement strategies.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing project management and technology team, fostering innovation and excellence.
* Drive cross-functional initiatives and facilitate knowledge sharing to enhance organisational expertise.
* Promote a strong culture of health, safety, and wellbeing in all work activities.
* Actively participate in performance management processes to achieve team and personal objectives.
Requirements
* Degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline.
* Minimum 10 years' experience in energy or large-scale infrastructure projects.
* Proven track record in managing major projects from inception to completion.
* Strong technical understanding of electricity transmission grid planning, development, and operation.
* Knowledge of regulatory, grid, and planning frameworks in the energy sector.
* Demonstrated leadership in managing teams and stakeholder relationships in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
* Experience working with regulators, grid operators, and other key stakeholders.
* Project management certification (e.g., PMP or equivalent) is desirable.
* Strong commercial skills including budget control, procurement, contract negotiation, and resource optimisation.
* Highly adaptable, innovative, and strong problem-solving capabilities.
* Background in Renewable Energy, Power Generation, Technology, or Grid Infrastructure is advantageous.
* Postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Management, or Commercial disciplines is a plus.
