What we need Due to a period of sustained growth, we are looking to recruit a Senior Technician to join our Professional Services Team. The Senior Technician will be an experienced member of the Professional Services team, with responsibility for the execution of project tasks as directed by the Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager. The Senior Technician will be responsible for ensuring all allocated project tasks are completed to time and quality and in compliance of TerraQuest’s standards and systems. The Senior Technician will be responsible for quality control activities as directed by the Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager on specific productions tasks. The position will be as a member of a dedicated team, delivering specialist land and property services and projects in areas as diverse as processing planning applications to analysing, processing and capturing ownership and occupation data, including spatial data using a geographic information system (GIS), and extensive communication and interaction with stakeholders from the general public, planning professionals and our clients. Technicians are also required to occasionally undertake visits to sites throughout the UK. The Senior Technician will report directly to the Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager. What you will be doing… Analysing and verifying information in relation to ownership and occupation of land and property Capturing graphical and/or textual information to specified quality levels and production rates as required Monitoring and recording technical quality of project deliverables and reporting issues to Project Manager Monitoring project risks and report issues to Project Manager Day to day liaison with team members, clients and interested parties Communicating project objectives and dealing with enquires from the general public. Providing plans and relevant documentation on request Processing planning application validations against a fixed turn-around target and making the decision as to whether the application is invalid or valid (referring to the Senior Planning Technician or Assistant Project Manager where necessary for guidance) Negotiating amendments to application submissions and answering queries by communicating with the applicant/agent via phone, email, letter Checking additional information submitted for planning applications Monitoring outstanding tasks Carrying out administrative tasks Meeting all daily production targets Being responsible for the quality of deliverables Following instructions as stated by Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager and as documented in Work Instruction. Feedback risks and issues to the Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager and follow their instructions. Updating project documentation and systems including Daily Production Logs, Quality Logs and customer business systems as directed. Ensuring a right first-time approach by maintaining high productivity, efficiency and effectiveness. Undertaking site based and office-based work as directed What we are looking for… The ideal candidate will have a relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent and experience in a Land Referencing role, with a solid understanding of geography, maps, and Geographic Information Systems. They will be proficient in MS Office and internet use, able to manage their own workload autonomously while meeting deadlines in a production team environment. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential, including the ability to quality-check others’ work. The role also requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, confidence in handling challenging customers to achieve positive outcomes, and a strong right‑first‑time approach that supports high productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness. Having experience of the land ownership subject area and analysing title information held at HM Land Registry or Registers of Scotland/Land & Property Services NI would also be an advantage.
