Overview of the Data Engineer role
Sellick Partnership is supporting an organisation within the financial services sector to recruit two experienced Data Engineers on a contract basis.
This is a short-term project focused on enhancing and rebuilding key data extract processes within a pricing function, supporting efficient data delivery and reporting.
Key responsibilities of the Data Engineer will include
* Rewriting and optimising complex SQL code
* Building and transforming data extracts into structured output files
* Reviewing and refining query execution plans
* Supporting the development and execution of Azure Data Factory pipelines
* Managing code through version control systems such as GIT
* Working closely with pricing stakeholders to deliver against project requirements
* Ensuring all code is tested, validated, and production ready
Required experience/qualifications of the Data Engineer position will include
* Advanced SQL experience, including dynamic SQL and code optimisation
* Strong understanding of query execution plans and performance tuning
* Experience working in data engineering or project-based delivery environments
* Exposure to Azure Data Factory and pipeline execution
* Experience using Azure DevOps, including boards and repositories
* Knowledge of GIT or similar version control tools
* Proven ability to deliver against defined timelines and project deliverables
Desirable experience:
* Previous experience working within pricing or insurance data environments
