About the Role
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking Head of Digital Services to provide strategic leadership for our digital and technology function at a time of continued organisational and sectoral change.
Responsibilities
* Set direction, make priorities clear and ensure digital services meet the needs of people who rely on them, including service workers, employers, students and staff.
* Lead a multidisciplinary digital services team and play a key role within the SSSC’s leadership landscape.
* Oversee digital delivery, cyber‑security, data protection, business continuity and risk management.
* Provide expert advice and assurance to senior stakeholders and governance groups while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and innovation.
What You Need to Succeed
* Significant senior level experience leading digital services, IT or technology functions within a complex organisation.
* Strong track record of developing and delivering digital strategies and leading digital change or transformation.
* Experience operating within robust governance, assurance and risk management frameworks.
* Strong understanding of cyber‑security, data protection, business continuity and digital resilience.
* Proven people‑leadership skills, with experience of leading and developing multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience of working with senior leaders, boards and external stakeholders.
Experience working in the public sector, regulatory environments or delivering user‑centred digital services would be advantageous.
Salary and Working Arrangement
£65,343 – £72,720 per annum (negotiable). 35 hours per week. Permanent / secondment (2 years). 43 days holiday (dependent on service). Flexible working arrangements and a local government pension scheme.
Location
Dundee, with a flexible, agile working approach combining remote working and time in the office.
