Job Purpose:
To be responsible for design of HV battery pack components and other HV components for hybrid and electric vehicles across AML programs
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Lead the 3D concept design generation of HV battery pack components and other HV components
2. Lead the generation of system specification, and be responsible for delivery of hardware that meets system targets
3. Responsibility for dimensioning, design and packaging of HV components and auxiliary components like brackets and fasteners to achieve target values of HV system and vehicle
4. Definition of BOM of these components, driven by CAD structure ensuring a carry-over strategy cross relevant carlines
5. Creation of detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of HV battery pack HV/LV components
6. Chair FMEA meetings, ensure development team alignment on DVP and test activities
7. Liaise with interfacing system owners and package teams ensuring compatibility
8. Work closely with component suppliers ensuring cost, mass and functional optimisation
9. Support procurement team during supplier nomination process
10. Troubleshooting and concern resolution during build and test phases
11. Work closely with development team to ensure functional performance and durability achieves targets
12. Work closely with simulation team to ensure good model correlation for mainly electrical and thermoelectrical behaviour of battery components
13. Extensive liaison with internal HV Battery Systems team to achieve functional targets of HV Batteries focusing on electrical behaviour
14. Releasing for prototype procurement and production launch
15. Tracking and management of all system costs – engineering, tooling, piece.
16. Train, coach and present technical information and share the knowledge throughout AML
17. Develop and record best practices and support development of design manuals to handle the Powertrain Electrification requirements of today and the future
Qualification & Experience:
18. Design and development of HV battery pack and HV systems hardware for hybrid and/or electric vehicles
19. Experience in dimensioning and design of HV-connectors, HV and LV harnesses
20. Understanding of hybrid and electric powertrain system functionalities and attributes at vehicle, system and component levels
21. Significant experience in Siemens NX CAD software
22. Experience of using Teamcenter for data management
23. Knowledge of relevant vehicle legislation and certification requirements for HV automotive battery packs and HV systems
24. HV battery pack and vehicle level testing (including crash)
25. Generation of 2D and 3D NX CAD in line with corporate standards
26. Simulation techniques used in the definition and validation of HV battery pack and HV systems hardware
27. Test methods used in the validation of HV battery pack and HV systems hardware
28. Ability to analyse and validate supplier data to identify issues
29. Working across functional teams (design, development, procurement, build and test) to deliver viable design solutions
30. Volume manufacturing processes – casting, machining, fabrication, forming, pipe and hose manufacture
31. BOM definition and maintenance
32. Creation of system DFMEAs
33. Driving optimisation through analysis
34. Working within an OEM environment
35. Formal releasing procedures and design change management
36. Tracking and planning of engineering, tooling and piece costs
37. Support of production sourcing activities
38. Support of production launch
39. Assembly line and general design for manufacture considerations
40. Engineering process and a working knowledge of industry standard tool sets.
41. Industry standard vehicle validation procedures
42. Developing design standards
43. Teamcentre PLM
44. Developing and documenting benchmark data
45. Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic and/or related field
46. High Voltage Senior Authorised Person Qualification
47. High Voltage Live Working Qualification
