About the Company and the Role:
My client is a privately-owned, long-established contractor with a fantastic reputation in civil engineering, bulk earthworks, remediation, complex demolition and construction works. With a reputation for quality, safety and innovative solutions, our client is a regional market-leader with a loyal and capable in house team and plant solutions.
Due to continued growth, my client is seeking to recruit a Senior Estimator for their civils division. Offering a competitive salary, a strong team and a great track record of long-service the role is varied but requires strong experience developed in a civils contracting business with commercial acumen and effective communications skills. Duties will include:-
* The preparation and submission of high-quality tenders for bulk earthworks and general civil engineering works, interpreting client requirements and alternative solutions
* Preparation of Bill of Quantities for pricing purposes from drawings and specifications.
* Liaise with operational and commercial teams to ensure effective tender submission
* Extensive client engagement and communication to provide confidence, ensure project understanding and ability to deliver most appropriate solutions and develop partnering
* Contributing the production of detailed project programmes (MS Project preferred) and outline method statements.
* Collaborate with the Managing Director and Bid Team on PQQ / Framework submissions.
* Liaison with the project team on tender award to ensure effective commencement
About You:
* Good appreciation of all forms of Standard Forms of Contract.
* Good working knowledge of Standard Methods of Measurement.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* Appreciation of appropriate construction techniques and solutions for earthworks and general civil engineering.
* Proficient in producing take-offs and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) from engineering drawings and specifications.
* Strong understanding of risk management methodologies and their application to project costing.
* Able to work using their initiative, but also able to work as part of an effective and established team, working often to tight deadlines.
