Medical Secretary Apprentice - Cardiology

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary to join the Cardiology team. This is a permanent, full‑time position working 37.5 hours per week.
This is an excellent opportunity for a self‑motivated, enthusiastic and organised individual. The appropriate candidate would need to have a good telephone manner, experience of audiotyping and use of IT systems in a working environment.
Main duties of the job
We welcome applications from candidates who want to join us as we explore the implementation of digitalisation of administrative systems and deliver efficient and sustainable patient‑centred services across the care group.
The post holder will have excellent communication skills and will be organised and methodical in their approach. They will be involved with a wide range of duties including clinic typing, telephone enquiries, minute taking and consultant admin.
The post holder must have the ability to organise and prioritise their workload effectively, working as part of the team and using their own initiative.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications & Training
* GCSE – Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent (Functional Skills level 2 in Mathematics and at least 1 English subject accepted)
Experience
* Experience of working with computer systems, including Microsoft Office and PAS
* Experience of working with staff at all levels
* Administrative experience within the last 4 years
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge
* Evidence of secretarial skills including excellent audio typing and minute taking
* Evidence of effective communication skills, both written and oral
* Ability to respond quickly to changing priorities, organising own workload to meet deadlines
* Ability to work without direct supervision within broad procedural guidelines
* Ability to build and maintain good working relationships within a team
* Demonstrated integrity and professionalism when dealing with difficult situations
* Understanding of confidentiality and the requirement to maintain it
* Ability to exercise judgment when dealing with queries and to analyse and resolve problems
* Familiarity with PAS desirable; training can be provided
