The role
As an Engineering Manager, you will have an exciting opportunity to be part of a developing business undergoing significant transformation to support the Devonport Facilities requirements of the Future Maritime Support Programme for the next 18 months, before moving to the LTPA (Long Term Partnering Agreement).
Day-to-day, you will be responsible for managing the technical aspects of projects from inception to handover, acting as the Technical Authority and single point of contact, and organizing resources as needed.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting capability growth within the group and securing new work.
2. Scoping and managing the technical delivery of projects throughout their lifecycle.
3. Supporting the Design Management Group to develop and deliver complex design solutions within safety-critical facilities, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget adherence.
4. Securing, organizing, and leading internal and external resources based on project demands.
5. Ensuring design outputs are fit for purpose and delivered within budget and schedule constraints.
6. Developing and applying a structured design process suitable for conventional and nuclear facility applications.

This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, with hybrid working arrangements: 1-2 days in the office and 3-4 days remote. Agile working options may be available, including part-time, condensed hours, and job sharing. Please inquire about flexible working during the interview.
Essential experience
* Strong technical background with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Experience designing and substantiating solutions for safety-critical applications within a nuclear environment (e.g., Royal Navy operators or radiological waste management).
* Experience with the design lifecycle and a logical approach to problem-solving.
Qualifications
* A Degree in a STEM subject or equivalent experience.
* Chartered or Incorporated Engineer registration, or evidence of working towards it, along with membership of a relevant professional institution.
Security Clearance
