Offer description

About the role

Level 4 - base salary from $121,188 per annum (plus super) - total package to be negotiated with successful candidate based on skills and experience

At TasNetworks, we design and deliver the energy systems that power Tasmania — safely, reliably, and sustainably. We’re looking for a talented Designer Estimator to join our collaborative design team and help shape the future of our distribution network.

This role will see you:

1. Work directly with customers on-site to assess and define connection requirements
2. Develop accurate designs and cost estimates for overhead, underground, and augmentation projects
3. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing expert advice on connection options and pricing
4. Coordinate design information and handover to delivery teams, ensuring technical clarity
5. Ensure all work complies with NECF, TasNetworks standards, and safety requirements
6. Apply technical software and tools including MS Office, AutoCAD/MicroStation, surveying, and network analysis applications

About you

You are confident working in the field and in the office, engaging with customers and stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into safe, efficient, and constructible design solutions. With strong technical foundations and a clear, professional communication style, you build trusted relationships, manage expectations effectively, and apply sound judgement to deliver high-quality outcomes. You take pride in practical problem-solving, attention to detail, and driving projects forward in a structured and collaborative way.

You bring tertiary qualifications in power system design, or significant trade-based experience in the electrical distribution industry. You understand underground and overhead distribution systems, substations, and street lighting, and you’re skilled with MS Office, CAD applications, surveying and design tools, and network analysis techniques.

If this sounds like you, and you are looking to play an important part in ‘keeping the lights on’ across our beautiful State, please reach out or submit your application today!

What's on offer

This is a Permanent full time opportunity, offering an attractive remuneration and benefits package.

At TasNetworks we want to power a bright future for our people, our community and our customers. We offer a supportive work environment where safety is at the heart of everything we do.

11. Free onsite parking (It all adds up)
12. Onsite gyms (plus an annual health and wellbeing rebate)
13. Personalised career pathways and professional development opportunities
14. All the equipment you'll need to be successful in your role
