Specialist Paediatric Sleep Physiologist
Barts Health NHS Trust is inviting applications for the Specialist Paediatric Sleep Physiologist position. This role sits within the paediatric respiratory service, which uses a multidisciplinary approach to manage childhood respiratory conditions. Our expanding team supports professional development and career progression. We deliver diagnostic and therapeutic services for respiratory and non-respiratory sleep disorders through a variety of assessments, including cardiorespiratory and polysomnography sleep studies, multiple sleep latency tests (MSLTs), actigraphy, oximetry, NIV-led physiologist clinics, and sleep consultations.
Responsibilities
* Conduct inpatient sleep studies at Royal London Children’s Hospital, including CPAP, BiPAP, and oxygen titration procedures.
* Assist with study setups and support Band 3 Paediatric Healthcare Nursing Assistants.
* Contribute to diagnostic and treatment pathways for children with sleep disorders and those on non-invasive ventilation (NIV) such as CPAP and BiPAP, including care for children requiring full ventilation support via tracheostomy.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high standards of patient care and clinical practice.
* Engage in service development and ongoing research initiatives where appropriate.
Qualifications and experience
* Proven experience in paediatric sleep physiology.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent communication skills to collaborate with doctors, clinical nurse specialists, ward nurses, dietitians, psychologists, and scientists.
* Willingness to learn and progress within the Sleep Physiology service.
