Senior Orthotist – Band 6 at Cardiff & Vale University Health Board. Closing date: 21 June 2026.
About The Role
The role covers inpatient and outpatient clinics across major hospitals in Cardiff and two Additional Learning Needs (ALN) schools, working within established multidisciplinary teams. The caseload includes rheumatology, orthopaedics, neurology, spinal/scoliosis and diabetology. This board is the main centre for scoliosis management in South Wales.
Applicants newly qualified or with less experience are welcomed for Annex 21 development.
Responsibilities
* Undertake orthotic assessment and treatment of patients with routine and complex needs.
* Communicate effectively with professional colleagues including consultants, ward staff, therapy and administration staff.
* Provide clinical and professional advice to the multidisciplinary team and to patients/carers regarding orthotic provision and ongoing care.
* Use verbal and non‑verbal communication methods to ensure effective communication where information may be complex.
* Overcome barriers to understanding, including communication difficulties, anxiety or lack of motivation.
* Maintain effective communication with orthotic product and service providers.
* Coordinate with Clinical Lead Orthotist, Senior Specialist Orthotists and Orthotic Services Manager to ensure efficient clinical services.
Person Specification
Essential
* BSc (Hons) Prosthetics/Orthotics
* HCPC registered
* Evidence of CPD work over the past 2 years
* Experience in an orthotic role of 2+ years
Desirable
* Scoliosis experience
* BAPO membership
* Good IT skills
* Experience working in an MDT setting
* Currently practising
