Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible Research Practitioner to work in a number of research active areas. The aim of this post is to support the delivery of a portfolio of clinical trials across a range of areas within the Trust. Reporting to the Trust Lead Research Nurse or Senior Research Nurse, you would provide a full administrative service. The post is based at York Hospital, with potential to work at other sites within the Trust and GP surgeries if necessary. This role offers development within busy teams, the chance to acquire knowledge about the conduct of clinical trials and the satisfaction of contributing to clinical research.
This would be a great developmental opportunity for a current clinical trials assistant or someone who has worked in a similar role.
Responsibilities
* Maintain study files and documentation, arrange appointments with patients, obtain test results and medical records, collate and submit trial data, and compile reports on trial progress.
* Provide clinical support to the Research Nurses/AHP, including screening, obtaining consent and recruiting participants into studies as appropriate for knowledge, skill set and competence.
* Work flexibly with colleagues in different research specialties and maintain an understanding of the legislation applicable to running clinical trials.
Qualifications / Experience
* Demonstrated experience in clinical research; minimum of 2 years in clinical research would be advantageous.
* Knowledge and expertise regarding the mandatory standards for conduction/construction of clinical trials.
* Ability to communicate sensitively and professionally with patients who may be seriously ill and distressed, and to communicate with staff at all levels across hospital departments, sponsors, and other NHS Trusts.
