9-month fixed-term contract/secondment opportunity; August 2024 – May 2025 A rare opportunity has arisen for a People Partner to join our small, busy Central People team on a fixed-term (for external candidates) or secondment (for internal candidates) basis. Covering a period of maternity leave, our ideal candidate will start no later than 12th August 2024 and will be based at Plumpton Park in Harrogate, though with the option for hybrid working. We’re also open to considering other flexible working arrangements; if this is something you’d like to discuss, please detail your ideal working arrangements on the application form. The Central People team provides first-class HR support to our Central and Group teams – including IT, Group Change, Central Procurement, Group Sustainability and Group Property Services, as well as others. We’re a People Team because, on top of the HR support you’d expect, we input in to workstreams that drive our culture and, in turn, business performance (from Reward to People Policy, through to Recruitment, Wellbeing and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion), enabled by truly effective relationships with leaders and other stakeholders. The successful candidate may currently be in a HR Business Partner or HR Manager role, though the role you are in now is less important than your ability to fulfil the essential criteria for the role. Day-to-day, you can expect to oversee the provision of people partnering support in Central, through working closely with leaders and managers, as well as advising on and involvement in people-related activity. This also includes taking ownership of people processes in Central, for example people planning, job evaluation and pay benchmarking and the pay review process. In addition, you’ll influence Group-wide projects, including supporting the People Director – Central who will provide strategic people change expertise to our Group Change Director and Change Steering Group, and system implementation/continuous improvement activity. You will also play an active role in several of our specialist Hubs. The ideal candidate will have: Significant experience working in a HR generalist role including experience overseeing, designing approaches to and advising on restructures, redundancies and complex ER cases. Demonstrable experience of people partnering in both an operational and strategic capacity. The ability to build authentic and effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, enabling them to influence and work collaboratively. Technical proficiency in all HR policies and procedures, enabled by comprehensive and up-to-date employment law knowledge and the experience to apply this pragmatically and with risk management in mind. Experience of leading and coaching HR professionals. Demonstrable levels of self-motivation; able to work independently and proactively to drive level of service/progress on projects and/or initiatives. CIPD level 7 or equivalent experience. It would also be beneficial to have some experience of working in an HR/People role in hospitality, retail or FMCG as well as experience of overseeing volunteers. A role profile, detailing the full list of essential criteria, is available on request. What we offer you As a minimum, all our employees receive free meals, drinks and snacks while at work, a discretionary quarterly profit-share bonus, holiday allowance with the option to buy and (in some cases) sell additional days, company-wide employee discounts, access to our health cash plan, wellbeing support, company funded counselling, and enrolment in the company pension. We also offer a range of development opportunities no matter your role and ambitions. We encourage everyone to explore what makes them the best version of themselves, and we do this through external training programmes, apprenticeships and internal 1:1 coaching schemes.
