The Project Finance – Lenders Insurance Advisory team is a leading global team involved in some of the biggest and most complex projects worldwide, working in over 40 territories. We support lenders in assessing risk and insurance requirements for high‑value, complex commercial projects. Our specialists provide in‑depth knowledge and experience of energy‑related insurance requirements and risk. Project Finance services include reporting on project risks, analysing project agreements, and negotiating insurance requirements.
Role Overview
* Provide consultancy services to clients on project finance advisory work.
* Support other INDECS activities as required by the Directors from time to time.
Role Specifics
To provide insurance consultancy services to lenders providing structured finance on projects. The role involves (but is not necessarily limited to) the following:
* Providing consultancy advice on insurance requirements for the project through all phases of the loan (construction, operating, etc.).
* Assessing and advising clients on insurance requirements and applicable terms and conditions from a lender’s perspective.
* Assessing and advising on local and reinsurance requirements and implications of regulatory restrictions on the lenders.
* Advising on commercial availability of insurance and determining implications on overall loan requirements.
* Drafting and negotiating the insurance provisions of loan agreements.
* Reviewing and commenting on risk allocation and insurance provisions in relevant contracts (e.g., construction contracts, operating and maintenance contracts, purchase and finished product sales contracts).
* Auditing and advising on compliance of loan agreement adherence as regards insurance procured by borrowers.
* Advising parties on issues regarding compliance or otherwise with loan agreement, and supporting lenders in finding a resolution.
* Drafting reports to lender on compliance, confirmation of applicability of coverage and deviations from loan agreements.
Report Writing
* Drafting reports to lenders regarding compliance, confirmation of applicability of coverage, deviations from loan agreement requirements.
* Reviewing and commenting on risk allocation and insurance provisions in relevant contracts.
* Advising parties on issues regarding compliance or otherwise with loan agreement, and supporting lenders in finding resolution.
Relationship Management
* Developing existing and new business opportunities worldwide.
* Promoting the company at external functions, lectures, etc.
* Communicating with risk managers, insurance managers, project managers, brokers, lawyers, underwriters, and technical consultants on risk and insurance related issues of clients.
* Preparing client invoices and narratives and assisting with accounts as necessary.
* Providing peer and junior training, support, and guidance as required.
Candidate Requirements
* Strong technical insurance background, understanding of roles and operation of the international (re)insurance markets.
* Excellent written and presentation skills, particularly in analysis and review of contract and insurance provisions.
* Strong organisational skills to manage workflows, collate information and track progress.
* Confident and articulate with excellent communication skills – able to converse with all levels and types of people within the insurance and finance industry.
* Willingness to work under pressure and with flexibility to meet client needs.
* Ability to travel worldwide for ad hoc client meetings and events.
* Strong team player.
* Holder of a degree (or equivalent) and a minimum of 5 years’ working experience within the insurance sector, ideally with related professional qualifications.
* Fluency in another language is desirable but not essential.
