About the Role

A front line customer role in libraries, serving the public, handling cash transaction, answering basic enquiries and carrying out routine library duties such as shelving and tidying the shelves.
1. Check and validate records using a range of databases and systems to ensure the accuracy of customer and service management information.
2. Provide information to customers on the availability of or use of Council services in accordance with Council procedures.
3. Operate the library management ICT system, requiring a degree of specialist training in order to support customers.
4. You will need to be confident in using IT for your own work and in helping customers use IT equipment and software, such as scanners, printers, apps, social media, setting up emails, etc.
5. The role requires a degree of multi-tasking and working under pressure during busy times. This role is not a traditional customer service role, and no two days are the same.
6. You must be a good team player and enjoy working with a diverse range of customers and volunteers, as you will be delivering the day to day library service and will be an ambassador for providing excellent customer care as well as helping to deliver events and activities that increase visits and issues.
Working Pattern:
This is a Saturday only role
Shift: 9.30-17.00

About You 1
Essential:
7. Experience of dealing with customers in a calm professional manner.
8. Ability to provide excellent customer service.
9. Ability to take part in promotional activities and events for adults and children e.g Rhymetime or story time
10. Working knowledge of IT and the internet.
11. Ability to use own initiative.
12. Ability to deliver under pressure.
13. Flexibility to travel to all 10 sites as at when required with enough notice.
14. Ability to lone work
Desirable:
15. Previous library experience
16. Working knowledge of Sirsi Dynix
17. Working knowledge of digital productions.
