The Role

We are seeking passionate and dedicated Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work closely with children who have ASD and/or speech, language and communication needs. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that values empathy, creativity, and resilience.

Responsibilities

1. Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning plans

2. Use visual aids, sensory tools, and communication strategies (e.g., PECS, Makaton)

3. Support pupils in developing social, emotional and communication skills

4. Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists

5. Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment

What We’re Looking For

6. Experience working with children with ASD or communication difficulties (preferred)

7. Patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for supporting children

8. Strong communication and teamwork skills

9. Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) desirable but not essential
