Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a 6 month Fixed Term Maternity Leave post as a Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our general rehabilitation ward at Potters Bar Community Hospital. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering client-centered, evidence-based care in a general rehab ward.
Main duties of the job
1. Work as an active member of the Potters Bar inpatient team, specializing in treatment and management of patients with multiple conditions.
2. Support the OT Lead in developing the service to ensure integrated working with partnership organizations.
3. Provide highly specialized assessments and treatments for patients with various conditions, offering expert advice, guidance, and information to health and social care professionals, carers, relatives, and other non-professionals.
4. Serve as a specialized resource for other Occupational Therapy staff and healthcare professionals across Hertfordshire.

Job responsibilities
1. Provide clinical supervision and ensure competency attainment for Band 6 OT and rehab assistants, maintaining an up-to-date Professional Development plan annually via the CPD structure.
2. Manage Occupational Therapy student placements, providing training, supervision, and teaching as required.
3. Participate in recruitment and selection processes alongside other senior staff.

Person Specification
Education / Qualification (Essential)
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Current HCPC registration
* Evidence of CPD relevant to treating adults with physical disabilities
* Up-to-date CPD portfolio
Desirable
* Membership of BAOT
* Member of COT specialist sections of RCOT
* Training in appraisal/supervision
* Postgraduate qualification at master's level or equivalent in a specialist field
Experience (Essential)
* Post-registration clinical experience, including senior-level rehabilitation work
* Experience in areas such as physical function, home adaptations, rehabilitation, falls management, within a multidisciplinary team, supervising staff/students, NHS experience
Desirable
* Research and clinical audit experience
* Experience working with social services
* Experience setting up activity-based group programs
Skills and Knowledge (Essential)
* Advanced assessment and treatment skills for complex pathologies
