What You’ll Be Doing:
As a key player in our Shock Transversal team, you will:
* Develop and Maintain: Support the creation and interpretation of Naval Shock Requirements, ensuring clarity and proper flow-down to systems, equipment, and suppliers.
* Manage Compliance: Oversee Verification and Validation evidence to ensure systems meet Naval Shock Requirements throughout their lifecycle.
* Review Evidence: Assess shock qualification evidence from suppliers and internal teams, including analytical calculations, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and physical shock test results.
* Conduct Assessments: Perform detailed stress assessments of equipment and structural components under pseudo-static shock loading, identifying risks and recommending mitigations.
* Support Testing: Plan and execute shock testing activities, defining loading conditions, monitoring outcomes, and reviewing test results.
* Document Compliance: Apply internal processes rigorously, producing clear, auditable evidence through formal calculations and technical reports.
* Drive Improvement: Contribute to the early identification and resolution of technical issues, supporting continuous improvement and risk reduction.
Your Skills and Experiences:
Essential:
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related STEM discipline.
* A solid understanding of structural mechanics and dynamics principles, with the ability to apply them to real-world engineering challenges.
* Knowledge of material strength behavior, including elastic and plastic properties, and their influence on structural performance.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools and techniques.
* Exposure to Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) concepts.
* A clear ambition to work towards professional chartership, with a commitment to ongoing technical and professional development.

About the Shock Transversal Team:
The Shock Transversal team is vital in ensuring a vessel's functionality after experiencing shock loading from Naval Underwater Explosion Events (UNDEX). In this role, you will engage in hands-on engineering analysis, including structural calculations and assessments, while collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders.
