Goldsmiths, University of London
London, United Kingdom
The School of Media, Communications and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the international research project “Democracy, AI and Big Tech: Assessing corporate activities in the advancement of Artificial Intelligence in the UK, US and Canada (AIDEMOCRACY)”. The project is funded by the Transatlantic Platform scheme on Democracy, Governance and Trust and is led by Professor Lina Dencik.
This research investigates the influence of major technology corporations (“Big Tech”) on democracy, particularly in relation to government policy, media ecosystems, civil society, and AI strategy. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will contribute to a desk-based and computationally informed research programme, including digital methods and data science approaches. The role involves collecting, analysing, and visualising data on public procurement and investment in AI infrastructure, as well as mapping social and political networks within the technology industry and policy environments. The successful candidate will contribute to interdisciplinary research outputs and engage with critical debates in data studies, AI governance, and digital power structures.
