Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to help deliver our regulatory responsibilities, placed on us as the Enforcement Authority for the Reservoirs Act 1975 in England. The Reservoirs Act helps to ensure the safe operation and management of dams.


Responsibilities

* As an officer in the Compliance and Monitoring team, part of the Reservoir Regulation team, you will be responsible for monitoring compliance with the Reservoirs Act 1975 for the 2140 reservoirs in England.
* Manage day-to-day correspondence.
* Record incoming documentation on our database to ensure that our records are accurate and up to date.
* Encourage compliance when reports or certificates are not received as expected.
* Be the first point of contact for reservoir owners and panel engineers.
* Provide information and advice on the requirements of the Act.

Team details

You will join the Environmental Assessment and Reservoir Regulation department, part of the Flood & Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Directorate. The Reservoir Regulation team is a nationally dispersed team comprising 25+ experienced people responsible for the regulation of more than 2140 large raised reservoirs in England. Some travel and overnight stays will be required.

This is a part-time job share (22.2 hours per week).

This is a national role so you can be based at any Environment Agency office.

All entrants must undertake training and participate in incident response duties when needed. An incident role is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency and supports communities and the environment. Further information on incident response can be found within your candidate pack.


Competences (for interview)

1. Data and Information Management — Please provide an example of how you have collected, managed and shared data, ensuring compliance with relevant data laws, policies, processes and standards. Note: Your answer will be used for interview selection; the STAR technique may be used.
2. Communicates Effectively — Please provide an example of explaining complex technical information to a non-technical person, your approach and how you checked understanding. Note: STAR technique may be used.
3. Focuses on Customers and Partners — Please provide an example of delivering unwelcome news and managing the relationship going forward. Note: STAR technique may be used.
