Assistant Professor Nuclear Fusion (Research & Education) - DurhamThe Department of Physics at Durham University seeks to appoint a talented individual to the role of Assistant Professor (Nuclear Fusion). The successful candidate will be a member of the Centre for Advanced Instrumentation (CfAI). We welcome applications from those with research and teaching interests in magnetic confinement fusion, ideally in diagnostics for fast particles and/or MHD instabilities, who would contribute to the Fusion Power Centre for Doctoral Training of which Durham is a member. Candidates must demonstrate high-quality research outputs in the field of nuclear fusion diagnostics and to fully engage in the services, citizenship and values of the University. We are particularly interested in applicants capable of strengthening the current collaboration with the MAST Upgrade and STEP projects at UKAEA and more widely in the UK and internationally both in the academic and private sectors. They will also be expected to contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality research-led teaching, which enables undergraduate and postgraduate students to achieve their potential, as well as engaging in related activities such as academic assessment and advisory support. The Centre for Advanced Instrumentation at Durham University is one of the major research groups in the Department of Physics. Currently we have 10 permanent members of staff, 39 research staff, 2 support staff and around 20 postgraduate students.
