Science Technician – Secondary School – Blackburn Start Date: October 2025 Vision for Education is working in partnership with a successful and forward-thinking Secondary School based in Blackburn, Lancashire, to recruit a dedicated and experienced Science Technician to join their team from October 2025. This is a full-time position with potential to extend into a long-term or permanent role. The Role As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the Science Department to deliver engaging and safe practical lessons. You will be responsible for: Preparing and setting up laboratory equipment, materials, and chemicals for practical lessons. Maintaining laboratory cleanliness, safety, and equipment. Assisting teachers during practical sessions where required. Monitoring and managing stock levels of resources. Safely disposing of hazardous materials and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Supporting small intervention groups or supervising classes in the absence of teaching staff (where appropriate). This role would suit someone who is proactive, organised, and passionate about science education. Experience working in a school science lab is essential, and prior experience as a Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant would be an advantage. A flexible and positive attitude towards supporting students and staff. Desirable: Experience supporting students in small group interventions. Experience covering or supervising science classes.
