East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is looking for an experienced Principal Information Analyst to provide analytical expertise across the Information Management and Performance Teams broad portfolio and to support the day-to-day running of the department, ensuring external and internal information requests are kept up to date, in line with the latest guidance, and submitted in a timely manner.
We are looking for someone who has a proven track record in specialist information provision and analysis which is supported by an in-depth specialist knowledge of NHS datasets and definitions, has an eye for detail and excellent interpersonal skills, is proud of their work and ensures everything is fully documented in order to drive reporting and analysis developments through advanced Excel skills and SQL.
Main duties of the job
Ideally, you will have a good understanding of SQL Server Reporting Services and Power BI to help the team transition from Excel to online reporting platforms. The ability to use your own initiative and think on your feet is paramount.

Qualifications
* Educated to Degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent experience in healthcare informatics
* Evidence of continued professional development to Masters level or equivalent level of knowledge and skills
Experience
* At least 3 years experience working in the NHS with at least 1 year within an Acute Provider organisation
* Experience of undertaking analysis of complex data to support business decision making using large data sets
* A good understanding of the NHS, elective and non-elective pathways, RTT and key developments shaping the information agenda
* Able to build working relationships and networks with individuals and groups of staff at all levels of responsibility within the Trust, and with external organisations
* Able to prioritise workloads and conflicting demands
* NHS Information and data modelling concepts
* NHS data standards and terminology, including clinical datasets
* Experience of delivering presentations to clinical and administrative staff
* Knowledge of Lean analysis techniques and statistical methods
* Previous experience of supervising or managing staff
* Knowledge of project management methodologies
* Methodical with attention to detail
* Experience in developing web based reporting tools
* SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)/ Power BI
Skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills, being able to communicate complex technical issues to non-technical staff both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to analyse, investigate and resolves complex analytical queries and issues, where there is a range of solutions / analyses, and interprets and resolves highly complex statistical / information problems where there is no precedent or where leading opinions may conflict.
* Must have good knowledge of SQL server for querying data, writing stored procedures
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for analysis and reporting
* The ability to plan, prioritise and delegate efficiently
* The ability to exercise own initiative and work independently to achieve objectives within deadlines.
* The ability to manage the twin challenges of delivering a high quality service to meet the demands of your client directorate, whilst maintaining a close professional relationship with the wider information service.

* Specialist knowledge of developing large scale, complex demand and capacity models using NHS information systems
