Job Title: Transport Planner / Operations Coordinator

The Company
We are working with a fast-growing, dynamic logistics and transport business specialising in time-critical and express freight solutions across the UK and Europe. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add a capable and driven Transport Planner / Operations Coordinator to their operations team.
The Role
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing daily transport operations. You'll play a key part in ensuring vehicles are efficiently utilised, customers are kept informed, and all jobs are delivered on time and to a high standard.
Strong IT skills are essential, as the role involves working with transport management systems, tracking software, and internal systems on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and coordinate daily transport operations across a multi-vehicle fleet
Schedule jobs efficiently, maximising vehicle and driver utilisation
Monitor live jobs and react quickly to issues, delays or changes
Communicate with drivers, customers and internal teams throughout the day
Use transport management systems and tracking software to manage workloads
Ensure all jobs are completed in line with customer requirements and service levels
Handle customer enquiries and provide real-time updates when required
Maintain accurate records, job notes and system updates
Ensure compliance with drivers' hours, WTD and basic transport regulations
Support the wider operations team with general admin and operational tasks
The Ideal Candidate
Previous experience in a Transport Planner, Operations, or Logistics Coordinator role
Strong IT skills - confident using transport systems, Microsoft Excel, and internal software
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Able to work under pressure in a fast-moving, time-critical environment
Strong communication skills - comfortable dealing with drivers and customers
Proactive, solutions-focused mindset
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet
Knowledge of UK/EU transport operations and compliance is an advantage
