Early Years Practitioner Job

An opportunity has arisen in our home from home setting which opened in 2022. We are looking for a passionate and nurturing experienced or aspiring Early Years Educator to join our team.

Description

Job Title: Early Years Practitioner (Baby Room)

Location: Willow Tree Nursery

Responsible to: Setting Manager

Hours: am-6pm, 2 set days per week Thursday and Friday - 30 min lunch with opportunity for regular overtime)

You must be able to work Thursdays and Fridays every week all year round.

Closed for 5 working days plus bank holidays at Christmas, all bank holidays and you will be entitled to statutory annual leave.

Pay is always above minimum wage for age group and will reflect the experience and qualifications of the candidate.

Main Duties:

1. To be a happy, smiling and curious role model to children and staff.

2. To work with children aged 0-5 years old, looking after and meeting their daily needs such as feeding, nappy changing and toileting.

3. To work as part of a team to deliver and meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage and Willow Tree Nursery Curriculum for all children and ensure outstanding outcomes for children.

4. To plan, provide and support age-appropriate play opportunities in line with the Willow Tree Nursery Curriculum and individual needs of the children in your care to ensure outstanding outcomes for children.

5. To be a present and proactive play partner to children, putting them at the centre of your work at all times to ensure they are happy, cared for, listened to, nurtured, safe, secure and able to make outstanding progress.

6. To ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all children in your care.

7. To be a key person to an allocated number of children and their families.

8. To use own initiative to support the day to day running of the nursery.

9. To work flexibly as part of a whole team, covering in other areas of the nursery and carrying out duties across the whole setting e.g. supporting with domestic tasks.

10. To support with daily handovers of children within your care.

11. To observe, assess and record children's learning and development progress including In the Moment Planning and following the Focus Child Approach.

12. Provide an enabling environment that meets the needs of each unique individual child, recognising that the environment is the "third teacher". Practitioners must implement the nursery's values of a calm, cosy and home-from-home environment which is free from clutter and visual noise.

13. To build and maintain positive relationships with parents/carers, recognising the valuable part they play in their child's care and education.

14. To adhere to and follow the setting's policies and procedures.

15. To ensure confidentiality is adhered to at all times.

16. To attend regular team meetings.

17. To ensure standards of health and safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.

18. To attend additional training events and meetings as identified by the Setting Manager for training requirements.

19. To liaise and work in partnership with external agencies (both statutory and voluntary) to support children within the setting as appropriate.

20. To undertake any other duties as deemed necessary by the Setting Manager.

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of duties. The early years practitioner will be required to undertake

any other reasonable duties outlined by the Setting Manager.

Early Years Practitioner Person Specification Criteria:

Level 2 of Level 3 Early Years Qualification (full and relevant) (preferred)

WORKING TOWARDS LEVEL 2 OR 3 CONSIDERED FOR RIGHT CANDIDATE

Basic Food Hygiene certificate or wiling to undertake

Experience Level 3 or equivalent qualification in early years (preferred)

Understanding of safeguarding and child protection or willing to train

2 years' experience within an early years setting

A Paediatric First Aid qualification completed within the last three years or willing to undertake

Understanding of the statutory requirements or willing to learn

Strong understanding of the EYFS or willing to learn

Skills and Abilities

Confidence in delivering an early years curriculum

A good standard of IT and written/verbal English skills

Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with a wide range of people, both written and verbally

Good organisation and time management skills

To be a team player

To promote and portray the setting's aims, vision and values positively

Be reflective and evaluative

Work under pressure

Be imaginative and creative
