Utilities Ground Maintenance Supervisor
Location: East and West Sussex
Salary: Above Real living wage
Contract Type: Flexible with consistent full time availability

We’re seeking two experienced Grounds Maintenance Supervisors to join our Utilities (Sub Water) Contract team – one based in East Sussex and one in West Sussex.
These roles are key to maintaining high standards of grounds and tree maintenance across our water utility sites. You’ll support the Contract Manager by conducting site audits, coordinating field teams, managing resources, and ensuring all work meets safety, quality, and environmental standards. You’ll also be hands-on when required, assisting with tools and small works.
What you’ll be responsible for:
* Support the Contract Manager in delivering a high-quality grounds maintenance service.
* Conduct site audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with RAMS, permits, and company HSEQ standards.
* Monitor and maintain the quality of grounds and tree works to meet contract specifications.
* Coordinate field teams, vehicles, and equipment to ensure efficient delivery.
* Plan and schedule PPM and additional works, ensuring deadlines and standards are met.
* Operate grounds maintenance machinery and complete small ad-hoc or emergency works.
* Report site issues promptly and follow through on resolutions.
* Train and monitor field team performance to maintain compliance and productivity.
* Support client meetings and communicate effectively across teams.
* Promote sustainability and best practices in all activities.
What you’ll bring:
o Proven experience as a Grounds Maintenance Supervisor or Team Leader.
o Strong background in landscaping, horticulture, or grounds maintenance.
o Good organisational and time-management abilities.
o Full UK driving licence.
o Understanding of Health & Safety, PPE, and COSHH.
o Flexibility to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
o Utility or water industry experience.
o PA1/PA6 qualifications and/or CSCS card.
Desirable:
* CSCS Card and/or EUSR Water Hygiene certification
* Experience working within utilities or large-scale contracts
