Technical Coordinator - Mechanical/Electrical
Join the Wastewater Operations Team working across the Thames Valley North area, based at Oxford Sewage Treatment Works.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate complex maintenance activities, working closely with in‑house teams and external contractors.
* Ensure compliance with legal statutory maintenance obligations for lifting equipment, pressure vessels, generators, etc.
* Maintain plant availability KPI across the estate, driving improvement and best practice.
* Act as technical mentor for the maintenance team, including apprentices.
* Manage pre‑requisites within SAP (materials, permits, resources and services) for all complex jobs for planned and reactive work.
* Use technical expertise and field data to design operationally critical jobs.
* Highlight key operational risks, present to obtain funding.
* Maintain availability of plant and equipment and optimise treatment process performance.
* Develop strong collaborations with internal and external stakeholders.
* Provide expert advice on technical issues and generate solutions to operational risks.
* Obtain quotes, order materials and 3rd‑party services through framework contractors.
* Ensure all aspects of Health and Safety are managed correctly, through safe system of work approval, reviewing RAMS, permitting and site audits.
Base Location & Working Pattern
Oxford STW – OX4 4YU. Required to travel to sites around the Thames Valley North area.
36 hours, Monday‑Friday, 7:30 – 15:36.
Requirements
* Valid UK driving licence.
* Relevant experience in Water or Wastewater treatment or comparable industry, preferably as a Mechanical, Electrical or ICA technician.
* Time served as an apprentice and a relevant technical qualification.
* Highly logical, able to determine and build dependencies between tasks.
* Collaborative, works closely with planners, field performance managers, suppliers and 3rd parties.
* Technically experienced with a good understanding of asset maintenance.
* Good local knowledge of asset importance to site and inter‑relationships.
* Meticulous documenting of finer details of work.
* Able to manage a large workload of multiple jobs in parallel.
* Competent with IT systems – will use SAP extensively – and effective communication skills.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry.
* Clean driving licence essential as the role involves travelling.
