Careers at TCS: It means more
TCS is a purpose‑led transformation company, built on belief. We do not just help businesses to transform through technology. We support them in making a meaningful difference to the people and communities they serve - our clients include some of the biggest brands in the UK and worldwide. For you, it means more to make an impact that matters, through challenging projects which demand ambitious innovation and thought leadership.
* Work with modern networking, cloud, and security technologies while driving automation and innovation.
* Influence technical strategy and mentor engineering teams within a collaborative, high‑performing environment.
* Take ownership of architecture‑level decisions that shape large‑scale, business‑critical network environments.
The Role
As a Network Security Architect, you will provide strategic and technical leadership in defining, governing, and evolving secure network architectures across enterprise‑scale environments. This role focuses on setting the architectural direction that engineering teams implement, ensuring network solutions are secure, automated, resilient, and aligned to business objectives. You will operate at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution, architecting secure solutions across LAN, WAN (including SD‑WAN), cloud (AWS and Azure), and data centre environments. You will champion Network DevOps and Infrastructure as Code principles, act as a senior technical authority, and provide guidance to both engineering teams and senior stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
* Define and govern the end‑to‑end network security architecture across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
* Translate business and security objectives into actionable network security designs, standards, and roadmaps.
* Design secure segmentation models, including Zero Trust architectures, next‑generation firewall frameworks, and secure connectivity solutions.
* Drive the adoption of Network DevOps and Infrastructure as Code principles to improve automation, resilience, and operational efficiency.
* Define and maintain a 12–24‑month network security technology roadmap aligned to wider digital strategy.
* Act as the senior escalation point for complex network security incidents, analysing root causes and implementing long‑term architectural improvements.
* Ensure adherence to regulatory, security, and industry best practices through architectural governance and design reviews.
* Design and review cloud network security architectures in collaboration with cloud and infrastructure teams.
* Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentorship to engineering and operations teams.
* Research emerging network security threats and technologies, recommending architectural enhancements to strengthen security posture.

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
* Significant experience in network engineering, with several years operating in a senior architecture, principal, or lead network role.
* Proven ability to design enterprise‑scale network architectures that balance security, performance, cost, and automation.
* Expert‑level knowledge of routing and switching protocols and core networking fundamentals.
* Deep experience with enterprise networking technologies, including routers, switches, Wi‑Fi, firewalls, load balancers, and SD‑WAN solutions.
* Strong knowledge of cloud networking architectures within AWS and Azure environments.
* Experience architecting and implementing Infrastructure as Code for networking, using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
* Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated testing for network configurations.
* Strong ability to produce clear architectural documentation and diagrams for technical and senior stakeholder audiences.
* Experience operating within ITIL‑aligned, Agile, or process‑driven environments with a focus on continuous improvement.
* Proven capability to mentor, guide, and influence senior engineers and cross‑functional teams.
* Architecture or security certifications such as TOGAF, SABSA, CISSP‑ISSAP, or equivalent.
* Vendor certifications at professional or expert level (e.g. CCNP/CCIE, PCNSE, Fortinet NSE).
* Cloud or DevOps certifications relating to AWS, Azure, or HashiCorp tooling.
