At Sash Window Restorations, weve been manufacturing, restoring, and installing high-quality traditional timber sash windows, casement windows, and doors for nearly 20 years.
Operating from our large, well-equipped joinery workshop in Twineham and our main office in Hove, were proud to serve homeowners across Sussex and beyond.
Weve built a strong reputation for craftsmanship, precision, and reliability, backed by consistent 5-star reviews and long-standing customer relationships.
All our joinery is manufactured and finished entirely in-house, giving us complete control over quality from raw materials through to installation.
As part of our continued workshop growth, were now looking for an additional skilled Bench Joiner & Machinist to join our Twineham production team.
Main Purpose of the Role
This is a hands-on, workshop-based role where youll be responsible for machining and preparing timber components used in the manufacture of our bespoke windows and doors.
Working closely with our joinery team and shop manager, youll operate and maintain woodworking machinery to produce accurate, high-quality joinery parts ready for bench assembly and finishing.
This role is ideal for someone with strong woodworking skills, good technical awareness, and pride in delivering precision-made joinery.
Key Responsibilities
Machining & Preparation: Operate spindle moulders, planers, saws, thicknessers, and tenoners to produce components from raw timber.
Joinery Production: Work from detailed workshop drawings to create frames, sashes, and door components to fine tolerances.
Machine Setup & Maintenance: Setup and maintain workshop machinery, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
Timber Selection: Identify and prepare suitable timber sections for each job, ensuring correct grain and quality.
Quality Control: Check accuracy, dimensions, and surface finish of machined parts before assembly.
Workshop Collaboration: Work closely with the bench joinery team, finishing team, and joinery shop manager to keep production flowing smoothly.
Health & Safety: Maintain tidy and safe working practices within the workshop at all times.
What Were Looking For
Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in a joinery, furniture, or timber manufacturing environment.
Machining Skills: Confident operating traditional woodworking machinery and power tools.
Technical Understanding: Ability to read and interpret workshop drawings and specifications.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy, care, and consistency in your work.
Team Player: Reliable, proactive, and able to work well with others in a busy workshop environment.
Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence preferred.
