A bit about the role This is a new post where you would develop and support 2 of our established services, based in our Bayhead community service building. The first service is our Outreach SDS services which is registered with the Care Inspection. We have 4 children and young people that we support all with different support needs, and they have individualised packages of care which are set up by SW and we deliver what is set. Some come in after school, Saturdays and holiday periods. Due to being registered, there are certain things that need to be in place to meet the care inspection requirements. You would be supported by the children’s service manager to meet these outcomes, and we would offer you the opportunity to get your Registered Managers award, once through your probation period. You would oversee the rota, making sure shifts are covered, get to know the staff and the children and young people we work with and ensure standards are met. We aim for ongoing improvement and growth of all our services, and you would be behind these changes for this service. Using your skills and knowledge to develop the service further. There are 2 contracted staff and several casuals attached to this service. The Children and young people currently attending range from 5 to 30 years old. This service will take up most of your working hours. The second service is our assessment and therapy service which has been running for over 27 years. Fully funded by the Health Board the 2 staff work with children who have additional support needs, following up on programmes set up by the therapists such as OT, speech and language, physio etc. The work is carried out in schools, nurseries, at the child’s home or in our Bayhead building. You would support and line manage up to 5 staff in this role. You will be supporting staff to meet the needs of our young people between the ages 2 and 16 to help them reach their full potential and achieving new outcomes. You will help create a stimulating and engaging environment whilst always ensuring safety. The job is 3 days a week, which may include an occasional Saturdays. Training will be offered and opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge. Your direct line manager will be the Children’s Services manager How you'll help to create brighter futures Running both services to a high standard as well as further developing how we support the children and young people in our care. Delivering services, leading by example to ensure that staff are supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential. Building and maintaining positive, professional working relationships by providing emotional and social support to children and young people who can display challenging emotional and social difficulties. Delivering bespoke activities which meet the needs of each child and young person. Ensuring a safe and positive work experience whilst complying with all policies and procedures. Supporting staff to further develop themselves and the services they work with Let's talk about you An SVQ3 and HNC or equivalent. Experience of working with children and young people. Experience of leading a team and line managing staff Excellent communication skills. Experience of planning, prioritising and evaluating activities and own workload effectively. Access to a car and business insurance. The job requires the ability to travel according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Equality Act.
