Offer description

Overview

AssetCool is addressing one of the most pressing challenges in the global energy transition - grid congestion. By combining cutting-edge grid robotics with breakthrough materials science, our technology transforms the physical performance of the grid in situ, increasing current-carrying capacity by up to 30%, at just 5% of the cost and in a tenth of the time compared to conventional approaches.

In addition to enhancing capacity, our solutions tackle other grid constraints including corrosion, electrical noise, and enable the collection of high-value data to build accurate, predictive digital twins. This technology is proving transformative and is being adopted at an accelerating pace, with deployments across Canada, Slovenia, the UK, and the USA, and a strong global deployment pipeline.

AssetCool is a fast-growing company with plans to more than double in size over the next six months. Backed by international investors from the US, mainland Europe, and the UK, we are proud to be one of the most innovation-focused companies in the UK energy sector.

We’re looking for ambitious, mission-driven individuals who are excited to work hard alongside their colleagues to build and deploy world-leading technology that tackles some of the planet’s most urgent infrastructure challenges.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Production Engineer to set-up and optimise the production of our next-generation robotic systems. You’ll take ownership of production processes, train a growing assembly team, and ensure our robots are built to the highest standards, ready for field deployment.

The role will include production optimisation using Lean Six Sigma tools, process improvement, compliance, and early-stage automation, scaling up from small batch prototyping to consistent, high-quality outputs. This is a high-impact position, ideal for someone who is both hands-on and strategically minded, with strong technical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

* Production framework: PFMEA, SOPs, production records, detailed process flow diagram, specifications, data collection and analyses, continuous improvement and optimisation.
* Robot Production: Ensure effective and efficient robot assembly production, including mechanical, electrical, and software integration. Work on the line and assemble robots.
* Equipment: Participate in CapEx projects to procure, install and commission new assembly lines. Responsible for equipment specifications, FAT, SAT and validation.
* Process Optimisation: Identify and implement improvements to production workflows, reducing build times, errors, and rework. Own the process flow diagram, PFMEA, balancing of the line and drive continuous improvement.
* Quality & Testing: Oversee execution of quality controls (QC), end-of-line testing, and performance validation in collaboration with Quality. Participate in 8D problem solving and kaizen events to resolve issues and non-conformities.
* Automation & Tooling: Identify opportunities for production automation, tooling improvements and built in quality controls and inspections to improve quality, increase output and efficiency and to optimise balancing of the line.
* Data Collection & Analysis: Develop structured approaches to gather and analyse production data; process capability, SPCs and core KPIs to inform the business and decision making.
* Compliance: Ensure all production activities meet relevant regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
* Feedback to R&D: Generate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to relay insights from production to product development teams.
* Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date assembly SOPs, test protocols, build records, and process documentation.
* Field Readiness: Support final integration and occasionally assist in field deployment and commissioning.

Required Experience & Skills

* BSc in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a hands-on production or manufacturing engineering role, preferably in robotics, automotive, aerospace, or mechatronics.
* Proven track record of process improvement and implementing production best practices.
* Experienced in CapEx projects and writing equipment specifications, FAT, SAT and process validation.
* Knowledgeable in process automation, robotics and application of AI and Machine Learning in assembly.
* Strong attention to detail and quality control practices.
* Experienced in problem solving, 8D and similar methodologies.
* Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, electrical schematics, and mechanical assembly documents.
* Working knowledge of production data collection, analysis, and reporting, i.e. process capability, SPC and statistical analyses
* Excellent project management and organisational skills.

Desirable (but not essential)

* Experience in robotic or electronics production.
* Familiarity with ERP systems.
* Exposure to ISO 9001 or similar compliance frameworks.
* Experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, preferably green or black belt certified

Why Join AssetCool?

* Work on groundbreaking technology revolutionizing the power grid.
* Fast-growing startup with significant industry traction and large-scale projects.
* Collaborative, innovation-driven team with exciting career growth opportunities.
* Competitive salary, and flexible work options
