Position: One-to-One Support Assistant

About the Role:
We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated One-to-One Support Assistant to provide tailored support to a pupil with additional needs in a well-connected school in Newcastle. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in a child’s educational journey, helping them access learning in a structured, supportive environment. The school is easily accessible by public transport, making it a convenient location for commuters across the area.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one support to a designated pupil throughout the school day
2. Implement strategies set by the class teacher and SENCO to meet individual needs
3. Support learning activities, emotional regulation, and social interaction
4. Promote independence, confidence, and engagement in the classroom
5. Keep accurate notes and contribute to regular progress reviews
6. Build a trusting, positive relationship with the pupil to help them feel safe, included, and valued

7. Experience working with children, ideally with SEND or behavioural needs
8. A patient, calm, and empathetic nature
9. Strong communication and teamwork skills
10. A flexible, proactive approach with the ability to adapt to individual needs
